In the “Water and Tourism” event hosted by the Tourism and Affiliated Business Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce, Urban Livability Think Tank presented its experience on the restoration of the FARAHZAD River ecosystem and returning it to urban ecosystem in the form of one of the blue-green infrastructure components of Tehran:
- Ecotourism can provide the most appropriate financial model compatible for restoration plans of aquatic ecosystem using public-private partnership (PPP) models.
- Ecotourism is one of the main pillars of the tourism industry and in addition to benefiting from employment and endogenous economy, has the ability to create a suitable socio-economic platform to preserve Iran’s fragile environment and recover its damaged parts.
- Ecotourism in Iran should be developed proportional to the geography of Iran to be creating employment and endogenous economy in addition to be a protector and trustee of the environment that benefits from it. In other words, Ecotourism cannot take its evidences from countries with different climates and ecosystems. To achieving this goal it is necessary to find meanings compatible with the climate and environment of Iran.
- In this regard, Ecotourism business activists and chains need training and capacity building to get acquainted with the real aspect of Iran’s environment and its geography.
